I just saw a horror movie in which a car was driven without a driver to create a horror aspect in the scene. Just imagine if you saw a car with a high speed, but without a driver. I am sure that you will be shocked as I was amazed when I saw a Google car project…Yes, it’s true! Google is going to launch its driverless car and unveiled a fully functional prototype of their magical invented car and planned to test it on San Francisco Bay area roads in 2015.
The Google Car is a project by Google that involves developing technologies for autonomous cars mostly electric cars. The software powering Google’s car is called Google Chauffeur. The development of the software is presently being direct by Google engineer Sebastian Thrun.
Each year 1.2 million people die in traffic incidents worldwide and a report shows over 90% of road accidents occurred due to human mistakes. Google’s team enhanced the way of traveling for people’s lives by developing self-driving technology that can improve road safety and make it easier for people to get around. To drive itself, a vehicle requires understanding, where it is on the earth, what’s around it, and what incident might take place next. And then needs to decide what to do and move naturally, safely, and sound. Google engineers developed the software that the vehicles use to recognize their surroundings and examine that software in authentic world circumstances. Driving on city streets isn’t simple, sometimes doubled parked trucks obstruct the way, Google group has been working tough to build the car like a master of self-driving in such situations and designed the software to become aware of many distinct things such as signage, road labor automobiles, tower in the way and pedestrians and to take action carefully. The car contains laser radar and a laser-based range finder system that lets the software create detailed 3D maps of the surrounding.
As the car is a magical invention of 21 century and amazed us with its great features but still it requires human assistance with other problems, among them understanding gestures that driver gives one another to signal it’s OK to come together or to change the lanes, turning left on red, and driving in rain or fog, this self-driving car can pay attention to all that a human physically cannot.
There are many cars already developed that have airbags and are designed to protect travelers from serious car crash accidents, but Google’s driverless cars are beyond the imagination and made cars one step ahead of ordinary cars. It also has specially designed airbags to protect pedestrians. These airbags would organize when the car feels that an accident with another vehicle is about to happen and the bumpers of the car are made up of visco-elastic stuff…. Seriously This is Just Amazing!!!
